Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the India AI Impact Summit 2026 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, on 19th February. Addressing the gathering, Modi said that the world's largest and historic AI Impact Summit is taking place in India, which represents one-sixth of humanity.
He said that India has the world's largest youth population, the largest tech talent pool and a rich technology-enabled ecosystem. He said that India not only creates new technologies but also adopts them at an unprecedented pace.
The Prime Minister said that 14 crore Indians are keen to adopt new technologies, and on his behalf, he extended a warm welcome to the Heads of State, leaders of the global AI ecosystem and innovators participating in the Summit.
Modi said AI will open up high value, creative and meaningful opportunities for more people, leading to innovation, entrepreneurship and new industry opportunities. He stressed on the importance of making skill development, redevelopment and lifelong learning a people's movement.
The Prime Minister said that the future of work will be inclusive, trustworthy and human-centric, and if humanity moves forward together, Artificial Intelligence will take human potential to new heights.
The event was attended by the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, Secretary General of the United Nations, several Heads of State, Ministers, senior representatives of multilateral institutions and other dignitaries including technology and AI giants.
Artificial intelligence is also a transformative force, it disrupts if directionless, but becomes a solution when it gets the right direction. Modi said the basic objective of the Global AI Impact Summit is to deliberate on how to make Artificial Intelligence human-centric, sensitive and responsive instead of machine-centric.
